Overnight Oats: Strawberry + Chia Seeds

Overnight oats make a great breakfast to start your day, get those engines roaring and fuelling you up for the blast of a day ahead. I made my first ever jar of overnight oats recently, taking on strawberries for the virgin attempt with this recipe right here. The ingredients were a friendly bunch, but I didn’t follow the list entirely because the supermarket was out of a couple of items like almond milk and greek yogurt — thankfully easily substitutable. The result tasted really wholesome and healthy with sweet hints from that bit of honey and those gorgeous strawberries. Overnight Oats with Strawberries + Chia Seeds Adapted from Buzzfeed’s recipe Ingredients 1/2 cup rolled oats 1/2 cup non-fat milk 1/2 cup nonfat yogurt 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1 teaspoon honey 4 large strawberries, cored and thinly sliced Mix all the ingredients up in a mason jar (or any air-tight container) and store it in the fridge for at least 6 and up to 24 hours. Cafe Review: The Lokal

“Lokated” on the sleeves of Duxton along Neil Road, The Lokal serves up Aussie-style brunch items in a laid back environment carefully decked out in 50 shades of blue — a nice visual distinction from the majority of third-wave cafes in Singapore. The Space Apart from cushioned seats that line the perimeter of the cafe, a communal table sits out front at the entrance — a homely corner that looks absolutely deserving of a feature in a home & living magazine. Walk further in and grab a place at the back if you’re in for a live culinary show from their open-concept kitchen. The three counter seats get you an unobstructed view, together with lovely chat with the Chef. (PS. His daunting glare washes away with a friendly hello.) Easy Homemade Burgers for “Burginners”

I have a love-hate relationship with burgers. We used to be pals. One cheeseburger meant a spanking new toy to play with. Then at some point while growing up, I swore off all kinds of fast food because it weighed me down and we drifted apart with the (very) occasional ‘ketchup’ session. But in recent years, gourmet burgers found their way onto my plate, some interestingly slathered with peanut butter, others with the juiciest patty yet. Watching Gordon Ramsay swiftly whipping up some simple sliders on his cooking show gave us the nudge to follow suit. So with basic ingredients in one hand and beginner skills in another, we dived right in and were pretty pleased with how these homemade burgers turned out, or at least tasted. Ingredients used: Minced beef Bacon bits Egg yolk White mushrooms Arugula salad Onions Cheese Hamburger buns Step 1: Prepare the patties  Place the minced beef in a bowl.
