Easy Homemade Burgers for “Burginners”

I have a love-hate relationship with burgers. We used to be pals. One cheeseburger meant a spanking new toy to play with. Then at some point while growing up, I swore off all kinds of fast food because it weighed me down and we drifted apart with the (very) occasional ‘ketchup’ session. But in recent years, gourmet burgers found their way onto my plate, some interestingly slathered with peanut butter, others with the juiciest patty yet. Watching Gordon Ramsay swiftly whipping up some simple sliders on his cooking show gave us the nudge to follow suit. So with basic ingredients in one hand and beginner skills in another, we dived right in and were pretty pleased with how these homemade burgers turned out, or at least tasted. Ingredients used: Minced beef Bacon bits Egg yolk White mushrooms Arugula salad Onions Cheese Hamburger buns Step 1: Prepare the patties  Place the minced beef in a bowl. You’ll probably want to add in more ingredients, depending on your personal preferences. To add a bit more flavour and texture to the beef …

Thanks for Disneyland, Mr Walt Disney

When I tell you my day spent at Paris Disneyland was the happiest day yet, I don’t exaggerate. Contrary to exploring a city where unfamiliar surroundings felt unsettling at times, this theme park was one I had to resist prancing and twirling about with a face full of nothing but glee. I’d been to Disneyland before, though those memories reside in ball of fuzz, so this was a day to remember. And remember it I shall. I’ll remember riding that carousel wishing it went on and on. And I’ll definitely remember how vastly different Space Mountain 2 was from the original one I rode when I was nine – we might have gone close to parallel to the ground at some point. I’ll remember this little girl in Merida’s dress carried by her mom in front of me while we queued for a photo with Snow White, crying, and how another little girl slightly older than her in pink Minnie-wear came up to hold her hand. The tears stopped. It was the sweetest thing. Dumbledore, is …

Postcards From Paris

Day 12, 30th June 2013: Click on any image to view them in a flip-through. The second day in Paris was spent prancing about the major landmarks – the ones you see on postcards, overused on tote bags and what not. Still, each of them held their own beauty. Still, we stood in awe. Starting things grand with the massive Arc de Triomphe, we were more than pleased to find the designated “photo spot” marked out in the centre of Champs Elysées. What followed were 90 minutes of strolling through the avenue with croissants and that must-try-miniature-donut-like-thing-sorry-i-cant-remember-its-name in hand while watching the first third of the crowd attempting selfies with the arc. Next stop: The Eiffel Tower. We had a mini-macaron picnic under the blinding rays of the sun at Champs de Mars. Finding that perfect spot just so the entire 324m-tower fits nicely in the frame got us moving further and further away. Once we got it, a self-timed jump shot was due before we scooted off for the carousel hunt down. After a double hit on false carousel-identities, we …
