Monday blues anyone? I had my fair share of glum today but chin up because I’ve got just the thing to please your ears!
She & Him has a distinct folkish yet classic sound of the 1960s that’s an instant foot-tapper. On 7 March, they released a new single, Never Wanted Your Love, from their upcoming Volume 3! I literally jumped up from my seat upon hearing the news and 15 seconds was all it took for me to fall in love with its tune. Listen to it here! (Available on iTunes now.)
I have a weakness for anything slightly vintage and quirky and I think we can all agree that Zooey Deschanel has those areas pretty much covered. It didn’t take me long for She & Him to make it to the list of my favourite bands. The American Indie duo powers through mainly with the piano, guitar, ukelele and Zooey’s olde-tyme vocals and they’ve released 3 albums so far: Volume One, Volume Two and A Very She & Him Christmas. I love how they fashion such a minimalistic style — from the band’s name to their album titles. They’re simple and they work so well.
Their music would definitely sound perfect on vinyl and I noticed that they used an animated one for their website! How quaint.
I don’t know about you but I absolutely can’t wait for the release of Volume 3 in May. According to She & Him’s website, the album’s track list will include 14 songs, 11 of which are Deschanel originals while 3 are covers. Perhaps an album review when it’s out?
1. I’ve Got Your Number, Son
2. Never Wanted Your Love
4. I Could’ve Been Your Girl
5. Turn to White
6. Somebody Sweet to Talk To
7. Something’s Haunting You
9. Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me
10. Snow Queen
11. Sunday Girl
13. Shadow of Love
14. Reprise (I Could’ve Been Your Girl)
At the edge of my seat and boy am I psyched. That’s one more thing to look forward to in May besides …. Summer! And Graduation! Have a lovely Monday night! 🙂
