Home-cooked For 2

dinner-for-two

Call it domestic gods/goddesses-in-training or simply food-experiments but it’s always fun trying to prepare your own meals instead of paying pocket-unfriendly prices in the restaurant of a nearby mall. Today I present to you a simple home-cooked dinner for two!

carbonara

You will need:

Pasta of your choice
Carbonara sauce
Streaky bacon
Oyster mushrooms

Boil up some pasta, about a cup per serving and sizzle up some lovely streaks of bacon before chopping them into bite sizes. We added oyster mushrooms as well!

For the love and convenience of sauce, we used Leggo’s Carbonara creamy pasta sauce with fresh cream & bacon. Of course, you could always make your own (but we were lazy).

Pour the sauce into a saucepan and heat it for a while before adding the bacon and mushroom. Using a wooden spoon (I love wooden spoons), stir and mix them up.

After draining and cooling the pasta, pour it into the sauce mix and stir well!

chicken-fillet

You will need:

Chicken fillet
Italian herbs
Salt

Sprinkle a generous amount of herbs and some salt over the chicken fillet and mix it well so that the herbs and salt are evenly spread out over the fillet.

Heat up a frying pan over a medium-high heat, add some oil then the chicken and pan-fry it till it’s well browned.

But honestly: We might have fried it for too long because the chicken fillets were a tad dry on the inside.

asparagus

All that you need is right there in its name:

A fresh bunch of asparagus
3 cloves of garlic, chopped
3 tablespoons of butter

Melt the butter over medium-high heat, then add the garlic and asparagus spears and cook till the greens are tender. Yes, that’s it!

mojito

Here’s an easy way to make your very own cocktail.

What you need:

Mint leaves
2 big limes
Ice cubes
Rum
Sprite

Place some mint leaves into a glass and muddle to release the mint oils. Then, squeeze in some lime juice and add a lime wedge . Fill the glass with ice before pouring over some rum and top it up with Sprite. There you go! Your very own mojito.
